Jungle Book update: After consulting with the Cumberland County Playhouse regarding coronavirus (COVID-19) and schools closing, the Disney Musicals in Schools program and Martin Elementary's production of The Jungle Book is being postponed. We are in talks with Disney about when to reschedule and should be hearing something from them soon. We will let you know as soon as we have more information to share. We hope everyone is staying healthy and using music to get through this time.

Mrs. Walther's Art Activities

Mrs. Walther's Art Activities and Resources A few of the artists we have studied: Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol, Georgia O'Keeffe, Red Grooms, George Ridrigue, Jacob Lawrence, Wayne Thiebaud, Roy Lichtenstein. Grades 4-6 should explore the art of Peter Anton as an extension to our recent sculpture projects. He is a super fun artist! Warning - his art might make you hungry! http://www.artnet.com/artists/peter-anton/2 Lastly, we have studied The Whydah pirate ship closely. This ship was discovered by a team of adventurers in Cape Cod. My friend's dad was part of this team! There are two Whydah museums of which one is now owned by National Geographic! This was the inspiration of our Jacob Lawrence style series chronicling the slave ship to pirate ship to sunken treasure!

New Family Reading Connections Newsletters

Dear Martin Family,

We would like to introduce you to a new system our school has acquired to help protect your children, it’s called V-soft. V-soft helps track visitors, students, faculty, contractors and volunteers at our school, thus providing a safer more monitored environment for the students.

When visitors, volunteers, or contractors check-in, or parents come to pick up students, they will be asked to present a valid state issued ID for entering into the system. The system has the ability to provide alerts on people who may jeopardize the safety of the campus.

We feel certain this will help us keep our campus a little safer, and ask for your cooperation in presenting your valid state issued ID when checking in at the Glenn Martin Elementary School. Thank you in advance for your help in this matter.

Just a friendly reminder, that ALL students receive breakfast and lunch at no cost, at Martin Elementary School.  A nutritious breakfast and lunch is provided each day.  Students who choose to bring their lunch may still elect to go through the lunch line at no cost.  You may put money on your child's account for the purchase of extra items such as extra milk, ice cream, etc. If you have questions, please contact the schools

Sincerely,
Administration & Martin Cafeteria
